And we are back for another great weekend of racing! The Annual Sea Otter Dual Slalom has returned to beautiful Monterey California and it did not disappoint. Professional athletes from all around the world convened for a battle to the end to crown the King and queen of the 2025 Sea Otter Dual Slalom course.
A Promising weekend for a few of Monster Army’s finest Nate Kitchen, Gavin Tomlinson, and Dante Silva. All 3 of these guys qualified on Friday for the big show on Saturday . The Field was stacked and these riders surely had their work cut out for them.
Unfortunately in the round of 16 Gavin Tomlinson was knocked out of the bracket. With only 1 second to spare he could not keep up with Tommy Zula.
Nate Kitchen survived the round of 16 moving him up a bracket to the round of 8. Now this is where things get interesting. Nate was matched up against fellow Army athlete AS WELL as Fellow team mate , Dante Silva. Yes, this means in the round of 8 the last 2 Army athletes on the hill had to battle it out best of 2 runs and only 1 would be moving on to the round of 4.
This is where Dante Comes in to Play. Dante Showed pure speed against Nate Kitchen in the round of 4 and was unmatched. Dante moved up the bracket sending Nate Kitchen packing his bags and heading home. Harsh for team mates but at the end of the day that’s racing…
In the round of 4 Dante was Matched up with Teagan Cruz, a well known athlete on the World Cup downhill circuit. Cruz did not have what it takes to hold back Dante Silva who won by a mere 3 seconds advancing him to the round of 2.
At this point the crowds have rolled in, cheering, and putting on a show. The stage was set.
Dantes next opponent, Ryan Gilchrist, a name people do not like to hear in the Dual Slalom world, was out for blood. Dante held him off for the first run but in the end Gilchrist fought back to win knocking Dante out.
The Final results put Dante Silva in to Podium position 3. A wild weekend of racing made for another unforgettable weekend at the 2025 Sea Otter Dual Slalom!
