Lucas Foster and Jason Wolle take on the perfect pipe of
Laax Switzerland!
One of the most prestigious international snowboard events
is the Laax Open. Renowned for it's truly perfect half pipe, amazing views and a
history of progression, just competing is an honor! This was the second year
for both of them and a great opportunity to show why they are there again!
“Laax as a mountain is amazing, the pipe there is so perfect it’s
unreal. It took a minute to get used to since it’s just so perfect and so fast,
it definitely makes it easy for riders to go big and ride their best. And the
park there is just so fun, that mountain has literally everything you could ask
for. I had a couple slams on some tricks that are usually in the bag for me and
that was definitely putting my mental game to the test and I also shattered my
helmet right before my 1st run, so I mainly just had to readjust and adapt a
few times. It’s part of the game though and I’m glad I still gave it my all and
it definitely got me a lot more hungry going into my first X-Games next week,
so I look forward to getting redemption out there." - Lucas Foster
Unfortunately, Lucas had a bit of trouble putting his run down, including a really gnarly slam which we are glad to see him even compete after!
For Jason the story was a bit different,
“Laax was an awesome
contest. The pipe was definitely the best I’ve ever ridden and the weather was
perfect. I worked hard in practice and was able to prepare myself enough to put
down a great qualifiers run. The first time I’ve ever linked 3 dubs in a
contest (dub chuck, dub 10, and cab dub 10). This got me into finals and I took
time off to rest and relax before the contest. I came into finals with fresh
legs. I didn’t land the cleanest run but I went bigger than I ever have before
and ended up in 7th place. Super happy with my riding and I feel like I’m
moving into the next level when it comes to my progression. Headed to Aspen for X Games tomorrow, I’m second alternate but I hope I get in and throw down
another good run!”
Congrats to Lucas and Jason, they have both come into this
season really strong, with new tricks, runs and a drive to succeed! Keep up the
hard work boys!
