Monster Army

Justin Aday is AOTW!

Monster Army Sergeant Justin Aday is this week's AOTW. The winter season is coming to a close, but we were able to catch up with Justin and talk to him about his season and plans for the future.

Who influences you and why?

Sage Kotsenburg! I have looked up to him since he first got on the snowboarding scene. I met him a couple of years ago at Park City Mountain Resort and he was so chill to me. He gave me pointers on how to do my first Double Cork and that helped me out a ton. Since then we take laps up at PCMR all the time and he is one of my favorite people to ride with. His riding keeps progressing every time i watch him and it makes me step my game up.

What/ Who inspired you to snowboard?

My brother Brent got me started into snowboarding when I was 11. He took me up to Brighton in Utah for my first time and I fell in love with it. I would take the bus up the canyon with my brother Travis just about every week so we could night ride. I started watching X-Games and when I saw Travis Rice throw a double rodeo 1080 it made me want to start learning how to go through the terrain park. I was hooked after that.

What are your proudest moments/ accomplishments in 2013/2014?

When I landed Double Corks all 4 ways, landing back to back Double Corks at nationals, getting invited to ride in the Holy Bowly and getting an amazing shot doing a miller flip over my friend Tylers head. Then getting it featured in Snowboarder magazine!

What part of your riding are you looking to improve upon most this season?

My style!!! I have never had a coach, so once I learned a trick I would move right on to the next one without caring about my style. I would like it to look more calm and relaxed at the end of next season.

Have you had to overcome any challenges that made riding an obstacle at times? (i.e. Injuries, support)

Last season I had my first born child. He consumed a lot of my time from me being with him, so I didnt get out that much. On the days that I did get out I would ride twice as hard, so I could keep up with everybody around me.

What is your daily routine and how do you prepare yourself for a day of snowboarding?

I wake up, put my gear on, grab a monster, grab my board, and take off out the door. Normally I stop and grab something to eat from a gas station on the way to the mountain. When I get home I'll hit the gym and watch my son until bedtime.

Where would you like to see yourself in the next few years?

I would love to see myself competing against all of the big name pros out there right now. I want to be one of the kids you see on tv or at the mountain that inspire you to ride.

When I'm not on my snowboard you can find me ______________________?

Hanging out with my child, at the gym, or Snogression

Who would you like to thank?

I would like to thank everybody who has supported me and helped me get this far in my career. My Family, My friends, My Sponsors: Monster Army, Snogression, Pow Gloves, Rockwell Watches, Legion Skate shop, Zoo York Snowboards, Crash-Pads, and my photographer/manager Tyler Watson for pushing me to go big and throw down everyday!!
