Hi Connor, how’s 2018 rounding up for you?
It’s been a really fun year. At the beginning of the year, I
competed in higher level events than I had the previous year. It was really
cool and fun to do. During the summer, I went to Mount Hood and got a lot of
training. In August, I went to New Zealand with my brother, Dylan, for Junior
Worlds. We did well and got to compete together, while also seeing New Zealand.
I played football for Lakewood High School for the rest of the season, and am
now training for this next ski season.
What do you have planned for the rest of the year?
I am planning on training and competing for the rest of
year. I am doing the Grand Prix at Copper in December. I am going to compete in
the Rev Tour, the Aspen Open, and the Calgary Open. A personal goal I have is
to learn to drive. I just turned 15 in September so I’m still a little new to
driving and it’s a little scary right now. I’m trying to work on that.
Any holiday or winter traditions you or your family have?
My family and I always go up to the mountains during
Thanksgiving and Christmas. We usually ski on both Thanksgiving and Christmas
if there is snow. This year is starting out great at all the ski areas. It's really nice to have my brother Noah back
in town and get to ski with him - he left for college in September.
Favorite holiday time food?
Green bean casserole is my favorite main dish for sure.
Always the best dish on the table. For dessert, I like either green Jell-O with
pineapple or Mom’s pumpkin cheesecake.
What are you most excited about next year?
I’m most excited about traveling and competing in different
comps. I got into Grand Prix which will be really cool to compete in, since I
have grown up watching this comp. I’m
also really excited to compete in all the Rev Tours since I will be more
comfortable this year. Last year was my first year competing in them so it was
a little nerve racking.
If you could ski with anyone in the world, who would you
want to ski with and where?
I would love to ski with Tom Wallisch just taking laps
around Breckenridge or Mammoth. I’ve grown up watching him ski and I think it
would be really cool to just take a few laps. I also think it would be cool to
ski with Candide Thovex at his home resort. It would be really cool to try to
keep up.
What do you think your favorite place you’ve traveled has
been to?
Definitely New Zealand. I went to Wanaka and skied Cardona
for Junior Worlds. I really liked it because of the difference between the U.S.
and New Zealand like the cars on the wrong side of the road, the meat pies for
meals, and how the resort was set up. I loved the experience and would
definitely go back.
Any last thanks you or shout outs?
I’d like to thank my coach, Jeremie Livingston, for helping
me with all my tricks and being there at competitions, as well as everyone on
the Winter Park Team. I also want to thank all my sponsors, especially you guys
at Monster Army. My other sponsors are Christy Sports, Spy, Sarah Burke
Foundation, Flyin Ryan Foundation, Innovative Financial and Chris Weatherman at
Allstate.
I also want to shout out my parents for supporting me and
having to deal with school, getting me and my brothers to competitions, and
helping us in all the other sports we do. Lastly, shout out to Matt Mackintosh
and Max Schadler for always being the most supportive people at school.
