Jordan! Pleasure to have you with us, this week. How has your 2016 Season been?
Thank you! It’s been a very exciting year for sure. I won a lot of races this year
and 13 championships as well. I was also
nominated for AMA Female Racer of Year.
You had quite the year with countless wins at
events like Baja Brawl, Mini-Os as well as some of the
regionals qualifiers for Loretta Lynn's. However, your biggest highlight
was from Loretta Lynn's where you won 2 Championships. Take us through that whole
experience.
It was an unreal experience for me and my
family. I trained really hard to get
through the area and regional qualifiers to get the tickets to go to TN. There
are so many emotions to deal with once you get there. It is a make it or break it week. You train all year to make it to this
event. Mentally preparing is a big part
of it along with the training. It rained
a lot at the Ranch this year which made for some very fun but difficult motos. The track was really rough and rutted but that
worked to my advantage. Unfortunately,
some of the motos were cut short due to the rain affecting the starting
times. It didn’t feel real when I won both of my
championships. I have always dreamed of winning championships at Loretta’s and
I thought winning one class was exciting but to win two in the same week was
such an amazing feeling. It is a feeling
I will never forget.
WOW, Huge Congrats on winning those championships!! You also competed at Monster cup, this past fall. How was the track and what was it like to be
in front of a crowd of that size?
I have never raced a supercross before, so
to race Monster Cup was such a cool experience. Being in front of a crowd that big was nerve
racking for sure but once I got out there and started to ride I calmed down and
had a great time. The crowd really
supported me and to hear them cheering was very motivating. I
didn’t have the results I wanted, but will be back next year.
Now You also attend public school,
which is unlike most of the top amateurs out there, since other forms of educations work with the traveling schedules of the season. How are you able to balance studies with training?
It isn’t easy. When most of the other riders get to ride and
train every day, I usually only get to train and ride on the weekends and when
school is out. During the week after
school and homework, my training is mostly going to the gym to work out or
riding my bicycle. I spend most
weekends riding and training on the bike.
What does a normal day of riding look like for
you?
A normal day of riding is typically motos
and working on sections of the track. I usually ride for a few hours before
lunch and then a few more after or until it gets dark.
Right on!! Well, thank you for taking the time to chat with us, JJ. Anybody you would like to thank?
